General Questions:

What is Tryxo and what are the benefits of Tryxo?
Tryxo is an online store for digital downloads with strictly independent music. Tryxo is not a community or dating site that also sells songs. We strictly focus on providing talented independent artists with a high quality marketplace for their products. No more, but no less. You as the artist can utilize the store to earn money with your music and if you then still wish to acquire a record deal with a major label, you have viable sales record not just clicks on your Myspace page or free downloads. Yet, our main intention is to support independent artist to the fullest that you will no longer need to have a major contract. The store is just the first step on the way. Oh, and signing up with Tryxo is absolutely free of charge.

Who is responsible for promotion?
Tryxo will promote the store itself, but the artist has to promote their own product. In the near future we intend to offer radio-like streams to people interested in the product we have to offer. Actual radio DJs will then select songs from the Tryxo database and highlight these based on which songs they think should be highlighted. This promotion will not replace a good promotion done by you, the artist for your own products. We will also provide you with banners that you can place on your websites or Myspace pages with a direct link to your song(s). Tryxo Logos will be available for download in the main store section.

Account: General Questions

What do I have to sell my songs on Tryxo?
To be able to sell your songs on Tryxo, you have to 1st register yourself as an artist and then 2nd have to upload your song(s) within your artist account. Once your artist profile has been approved and your song(s) have been released, they are ready for sale in the Tryxo store.

Are there any specific music genres or can anyone sign up?
Anyone can sign up and upload their songs to their Tryxo Account for free. When you upload the song, you will be asked to select up to 3 genres in which your song will be shown. The genres available for selection are: Alternative, Blues, Contemporary, Country, Eclectic, Gothic, Gospel, Heavy Metal, HipHop / Rap, Industrial, Jazz, NewAge /Electronic, Pop, Punk, Reggae / Ska, Rock, R&B / Soul / Neo Soul, Spoken Word, Techno / House / Clubsound, World and Latin.  

When the store opens, only those genres will be shown that actually have songs linked to them. So, if noone has uploaded a song in your genre yet, go ahead and be the first and use the exposure!

What information is required to sign up?
We require the following information from you: First Name, Last Name, Address, Zip Code, City, State, Country, E-Mail Address, your Paypal Account, Password, Password Confirmation, the Artist Name, a Picture, your Website (if you have one), and a description of the artist / group. Optional are Label, Contact Person at label and the Contact Person’s Email Address. Please ensure that the person that is entered in the registration, is the person that holds the rights to the song(s) that will be uploaded. If a group signs up, you should have a written agreement between the different parties, as we only pay out to one account. You will be responsible to pay the percentages to each group member or any party that has part in the creation of the song(s). The email address you provide will be your user name, so you can log on to your account using the email address and password you entered when registering.

What is Paypal and why do you need my Paypal Account?
Paypal is a payment solution which allows us to pay artists anywhere in the world in a timely mannor. If you do not have an account yet you can set it up at http://www.paypal.com. We (Tryxo) need your Paypal Account to be able to pay you (the Artist) for the songs that you sold.

Account: Contract / Licensing related Questions

What kind of contract do I have to sign with Tryxo?
It was our goal to make the contractual process as simple and streamlined as possible. Therefore we have set up the following scenario:

1. You have to agree to the “Artist Terms and Conditions” when you register your Tryxo Account. This permits you to have an account with us and sets the ground rules.
2. Once you have uploaded a song and we have Pre-Approved the song, we will ask you to sign a non-exclusive license which will permit us to sell the song worldwide through the internet. You will be able to sign this licensing agreement online with E-signature.

How does the E-signature for the Licensing Agreement work?
With the registration data (First Name, Last Name and Email Address) from your Tryxo registration, we automatically create an account with ContractPal – our partner company – for you. When you have uploaded a song and it is Pre-Approved, we will ask you to sign the licensing agreement. For this, you have to go to your Account section “Your songs” and click on the song details. Here you will find a link to the Licensing Agreement. Once you click on the link, you can then read the Agreement and sign it by clicking on the button “Sign”. When you want to sign your first licensing agreement, ContractPal will send you an Email to confirm your identity which you will have to approve. After you have confirmed your ContractPal Account, you will no longer have to do so, when signing future agreements. You will be able to just click on the link from your Tryxo Account and then sign the Licensing Agreement online.

Why does Tryxo use E-signature?
There are multiple reasons to use the E-signature functionality. Here are a few main reasons:

1. it simplifies the process for the Artist and Tryxo. It provides us with the ability to act fast and efficient.
2. it saves the artist time and money. The artist does not have to print out the licensing agreement, sign it, get it notarized and FedEx it to us – which is even more difficult, if the artist is not from the USA.
3. It is better for the environment. No paper used, no airplane needed to transport the documents etc. It is part of Tryxo’s policy to GO GREEN!

Who can sign up with Tryxo?
Any artist or group can sign up with Tryxo. Independent labels can also sign up their artists with Tryxo. The label will have to set up an account for each artist or group. Everyone that signs up with Tryxo has to have the rights to the song(s) he/she uploads. When you upload your music, we will inform you, whether your music is good enough to be sold on Tryxo. We will give you advice as to how to improve your music, if needed, to release it for sale.

I am a member of a group. Can I still sign up?
The answer is yes! You can sign up and upload your songs. The person in that signs up for the group should have an agreement with all group members for the Tryxo account and the sale of the song(s) on Tryxo. Tryxo will only pay the artists earnings to one account. We suggest that you have a written agreement between the group members which percentage each member should receive from these earnings. Also, we request that you transfer Tryxo a non-exclusive license to distribute your song(s) online to the world. The person signing up with Tryxo needs to have the written authorization from all group members to do so.

What are the song requirements?
It is vital that you record, mix and master the song(s) with the highest quality possible. The better the quality of your song(s) the more you will be able to sell. The more you sell… the more money you will earn. As uploads, we only accept MP3s. No other format will load into our database. We will only release MP3s of a quality of 128kb or higher. When you upload your music, we will inform you, whether your music is good enough to be sold on Tryxo. We will give you advice as to how to improve your music, if needed, to release it for sale.

Is there a minimum number of songs that I have to upload?
There is no minimum of songs that you have to upload. If you only have one song that you want to sell or if you want to test out Tryxo to see how it works… it doesn’t matter. If you want to upload one song or 50… it is up to you.

How can I verify that my song was uploaded successfully?
After you uploaded your song in your account, just go to “Your songs”, then click on the “Details” link next to your song. Now click on play in the music player at the top of your song details. If the song plays, it was uploaded successfully. If you receive the message “Error opening file” an error occurred during upload and the song is not there. You can upload your song again if you scroll down and select the song at “upload a new release of this song” and click “Save changes”. After you have done this, check if the upload was successful by clicking play on the player in the song details as described before. Please, be aware that only MP3s can be uploaded.

Can I change a song after I uploaded it?
You can change a song after you uploaded it. You can change the description, the image and the song file as long as the song is still locked. Once the song is released for sale, you can no longer make changes to your song.

Where do I see how many of my songs were sold?
In your account you can view each song’s details. Here you will see the statistic of how many times your song was clicked on to preview and how many times your song was actually purchased.

Who decides what songs are released on Tryxo and based on which criteria?
A team of music experts decide which songs are released on Tryxo. The decision is based on our expectation of what we think can sell worldwide. Defamatory or indecent content is not supported. Also the quality of the mix, master and MP3 are vital to our decision to release a song.

How much do I earn on Tryxo?
On Tryxo you earn 75% of the net sales price per song sold. Tryxo uses the 25% to pay for the hosting and administration of the website.

When do I start earning money on Tryxo?
You start earning money as soon as the first song is sold. Payments to the artists are after every quarter, if your income exceeds US$35.-. If you have earned less then $35.- then this balance will roll-over to the next quarter.

Where do I see how much money I am due to receive or how much I have been paid?
In your account you have a section called “Accounting”. Here you will see how much you are due to receive and how much has been paid to you in the previous quarters.

Will I be notified if there is anything wrong with my data or song(s)?
We encourage you to constantly check your account details to ensure that your data is approved and your songs are released. But we will also send you emails to notify you, if we have updated the status of your data or your song(s) or if we have left a comment.

Where can I see the status of my data or my song(s)?
The status of your data can be found in your account under “Your data” in the field “Status”. The status can either be “locked” or “approved”. In the overview of all your songs, you will be able to see the section of “List of locked songs” and if you have released songs the section “List of released songs”. The status of your song(s) can also be found in your song’s details in the field “Status”. The status can either be “locked” or “released”.

Comments regarding your data can be found in your account under “Your data” in the field “Reason for status”. Comments regarding your song(s) can be found in your song’s details in the field “Reason for status”.

Are there any requirements for the images that I upload?
Any image should not display anything defamatory or indecent or any copywritten logos. The size restriction for song images is 200kb. If you do not have any images for the songs, we provide you with a selection of standard images to select from. The artist image for the general data is mandatory.

What is the difference between Tryxo and other online stores?
All our artists are independent artists that are talented and deserve the chance to sell their music worldwide. We want to offer the artist a venue and offer the world a great music selection that can be purchased for less then what they would spend on most other webstores. Our belief is that music is worth while paying for as it costs money to make music. So, we sell, but we sell for less and we earn, but we earn money from each sale, but we earn it to pay the bills.

Tryxo Charts are the official Sales Charts on Tryxo. They are based on the sales per song.

Can fans preview my song(s)?
Yes, your songs can be previewed for up to one minute. In addition we will be offering an online-radio-stream to highlight different songs. The songs highlighted are picked by the radio DJs creating the show.

Yes, anyone that has signed up with Tryxo has the ability to rate your song and leave comments and thoughts about your music.
