Denise MarsaDenise Marsa is a tough artist to pigeonhole. Her style has always been eclectic, ranging from pop to acoustic rock to soulful ballads. A self-taught keyboard player who snuck into the NYU practice rooms at the start of her career to gain access to a piano, Marsa eventually mastered the instrument and at the same time began writing songs. She now owns her own keyboard.
As an accomplished international singer/songwriter and producer, Marsa has been published worldwide by Warner Brothers Music, UK and Warner/Chappell Music, Los Angeles. She spent years living and writing in London and Los Angeles before finally returning to New York City. Her songs have been interpreted by artists from Israel, Japan, Argentina, Spain, Switzerland, England and Greece. Her recordings have been featured in film and TV productions worldwide. In 2001, Marsa was music supervisor and composer for the award winning short film The Ten Rules. In 2002 she composed music for the Showtime Extreme Series ChromiumBlue.com, and her pieces were featured throughout the series run. Among Marsa `s various credits, she has been the featured vocalist on two top ten hit records, the UK hit `Lucky Stars,` a duet with Dean Friedman, and the international dance record, `Helpless,` one of The Flirts biggest hits.
Marsa, whose music explores the many aspects of personal and social relationships, fits in both intimate and larger spaces. She has performed at such venues as The Queen Festival Hall and Hammersmith Odeon in London, The Troubadour, The Roxy, and Café Largo in Los Angeles, Enigma Café and The Virgin Mega Store in Las Vegas, Max`s Kansas City, Googie`s Lounge and Rockwood Music Hall in New York City.
In 1998 Marsa founded KeyMedia Group to promote the release of her critically acclaimed solo album entitled `Self.` It was during this time that Marsa began designing multi media marketing materials and handling publicity and promotions for her own release, eventually leading to the start of KeyMedia Public Relations.
Marsa who has always had a hand in her own production, went into hyper-drive as a producer while living in London and Los Angeles, collaborating with recording engineers and producers, while continuing to explore the depths of her expression as a composer. In 2003 she began mentoring and producing new artists, including helping to launch the career of singer/songwriter Christopher Dallman. Marsa is currently working with newcomer Rachel Millman, whose first single, Throwin Rocks at the Moon and EP is scheduled to be released in the summer of 2009.
Now focusing her own work on creating and providing music for TV & Film projects, Marsa continues to write relevant, thought provoking, inspiring and catchy tunes. And she may release her second body of work...one day soon. Meanwhile here a few new tracks...
