The J.U.S. EvolutionThe J.U.S. Evolution is the hottest band to hit the scene since the invention of the electric guitar! J.U.S. (meaning: just understanding self) evolved from an artist searching inside himself to create music that is evolutionary, original & timeless. J.U.S. (born: Allah Ricks) discovered his style and talent one lonely night at a Brooklyn group home. This is the place where he first picked up the guitar and had the vision to add his new talent to his already promising Rap/Hip-Hop career. This combination would change the life of J.U.S. forever. Knowing that he discovered something special, J.U.S. gave up the basic route to stardom and began on a journey only true visionaries could endure.
In the fall of 1997 J.U.S. went off to college at SUNY Farmingdale. This is where he nurtured his guitar skills, singing ability and formulated his plan to start the J.U.S. Evolution. With the band he wanted to create a sound fused with classic rock (Jimi Hendrix, Led Zepplin, etc.) and Hip-Hop (Tupac, Biggie, etc). J.U.S. struggled to find the perfect team so he continued to move forward as a solo act until he perfected his vision. While searching for band mates he gathered a wealth of experience working as a session player for various artist. He also performed at recording label showcases which landed him in the Source: Unsigned Hype January 2001. J.U.S. also began to receive production deals from Paul Rosenberg, Cypress Hill, Dante Ross (Everlast producer), Q-tip and Alchemist just to name a few. Then J.U.S. showcased himself on the MTV reality show Making the Band (season 1: as Allah Ricks) where he excelled, but Sean Combs could not completely understand his vision. Shortly after the show J.U.S. was signed to a publishing deal with BMG and finally the formation of the band began to take place.
First he recruited Enzo, a bassist from the Philippines who knows how to rock out with animated stage movements. Enzo has played in many bands in the states and his home country. Next, J.U.S. had to find a multi talented hard hitting drummer. Next, J.U.S. had to find a multi talented hard hitting drummer. That`s when Leo stepped on the scene as a phenomenal drummer, producer singer and songwriter. With his ability to sing and play simultaneously he has the ultimate package. He also added an MPC to his drum kit evolving the look of the band even more. Next, J.U.S ran into his old college buddy Lucky (Walter Simons), who is a singer/songwriter, arranger and hype man. Lucky adds a sense of soul and powerful falsetto notes which gives the band a unique harmony style with a competitive edge. Then J.U.S. found a guitar player named Patrick Bell who also is a singer/songwriter. Patrick is a magical guitar player who knows how to groove. He is also a trained studio engineer (this was the key to the bands technical improvement) so, with his ear for timing and tuning the band moved closer to perfection. Finally, the vision was complete.
Together, the J.U.S. Evolution has performed all over New York City to rave revues. They are full of energy and they have a live show like no other. They recently finished their first album and they are ready to hit the road. If you are ready for a change in music look no further because the J.U.S.
